Struggling with hair growth? Your hair is stuck at the same length for years ? If so, you’re not alone!
Here is my actual simple yet effective routine that could really help you grow the long locks you've been dreaming off !
Step 1 : Use Argan oil as a pre-shampoo treatment
A great way to get started is to use Argan oil as a pre-shampoo treatment.
Look for 100% pure, organic and ideally cold-pressed Argan oil to ensure you're getting the best quality oil.
I usually apply 1 or 2 bottle droppers worth of oil straight on the scalp. No need to properly section the hair but try to cover as much of the scalp as possible.
I like to massage my scalp with my fingertips for about 2 to 5 minutes to make sure the oil penetrates the scalp well. No nails please while you massage, that might end up irritating the scalp instead.
Finally, I go over the lengths with oiled hands and try to undo any knots as best I can gently with my fingers. Once the hair is relatively detangled, finish off using your favourite brush. Just be gentle with it, oil helps the detangling at it coats the strand but it also makes it more fragile. I find that my hair sheds a lot less when detangling this way.
Put your hair in a loose bun and leave it sometime between 30 minutes to 4 hours. I don't recommend leaving it overnight though !
Step 2 : Shampoo
It's important to cleanse your scalp after the oiling, especially since Argan oil can be quite dense. We wouldn't want to end up with an greasy scalp !
I like applying a mild shampoo twice : first on the scalp exclusively and a second time to wash both the scalp and the lengths. I find my lengths aren't too dry after washing this way
Make sure to massage your scalp with your fingertips or a round scalp brush to clear any impurities.
Step 3 : Conditioning
I actually skip the conditioner and apply a hair mask instead as my hair runs on the dry side and I find using both conditioner and hair mask redundant. If you have fine hair, use a lightweight conditioner instead.
The hair mask works wonders for me as it re-moisturises my hair after the shampoo, it feels softer and less prone to breakage that way.
Step 4 : Towel drying
I really like drying with a soft microfibre towels or an old 100% cotton T-shirt. That helps me cut hair drying time as they tend to absorb quite a bit of moisture quickly.
Step 5 : Styling
Style your way your preferred way. If using heat, make sure to apply a heat protectant spray beforehand.
I like to style with a blowdrying brush and then apply curling rods for a heatless curl finish.
Step 6 : Applying Argan oil as a leave in
Once the hair is styled, apply it on the lengths only. A few drops should suffice. Please do not apply it BEFORE using heat, I used to do that and was basically just frying my hair.
Applying the Argan oil as a final step is particularly useful if your hair gets frizzy after styling. Argan oil is excellent for taming frizz and making your hair look shinier and less puffy.
Step 7 : Daily on the lengths
I like to apply a few drops of Argan oil on my lengths every night and work on the knots if there are any. I find that : 1) my hair is less prone to knots that way, 2) It makes the pre-wash detangling a lot easier !
Hope this helps get you started on your hair growth journey
Good luck 🤞
